Registration Agencies cannot be self-appointed. The ISAN International Agency has the authority to select Registration Agencies through the following procedure.
Prospective Registration Agencies should initiate the process by completing and submitting an Expression of Interest.
The Expression of Interest undergoes a thorough review by the ISAN International Agency (ISAN-IA) Administration Committee. This committee validates the application's compliance with ISO 15706 and ISO regulations. It assesses the financial stability of the applicant, ensuring their not-for-profit commitment to ISAN. Additionally, the committee evaluates the widespread support for the applicant within the local audiovisual industry, particularly from local producers.
Upon acceptance by ISAN-IA, the applicant can collaborate with ISAN-IA on developing the prospective ISAN agency business plan. This plan addresses key aspects such as the implementation timeline, Registration Agency structure, founding members, target audience, pricing strategy to cover costs, and the ISAN agency's future initiatives for standard development. It also outlines the procedures for registering existing catalogs, films, TV series, documentaries, etc.
The completed business plan undergoes a review by the ISAN-IA Administrative Committee for approval.
Once approved, the Registration Agency Agreement with ISAN-IA can be signed, and the new ISAN agency becomes operational. ISAN-IA is committed to supporting the agency in its day-to-day operations and, when necessary, in engaging significant local users, such as broadcasters, to encourage the adoption and utilization of the standard.
